Mission: Our Shabbat Outreach Service Leaders facilitate a monthly Shabbat service to older adults living in residential facilities, providing Jewish ritual and fortifying community connections.
What To Expect:
- You will start your journey to becoming a Shabbat Outreach Service Leader with a brief intake session with the JFS Volunteer Coordinator.
- JFS will provide you with a Shabbat service book and ritual supplies to celebrate the holiday with residents, and inform you about current needs.
- On the day of the service, you will go to a local residential facility and facilitate a short service with the residents.
Please Note: You will need a basic knowledge of Shabbat services, although Hebrew proficiency is NOT required.
Time Commitment: Select Friday mornings, 11 a.m. – noon
Training and volunteer expectations will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator when you are welcomed to the team!
