'Ladies Who Lunch' series launches

The guest list was made, the invitations sent, and the table was set for a very special Ladies Luncheon on June 19, 2019. The goal? To bring older adult women from Allentown, Bethlehem, Macungie and Easton together for an afternoon of friendship and laughter.

The luncheon was the first in the “Ladies Who Lunch” series aimed at providing opportunities for this group of women to reminisce together of where they’ve come from, and make new memories with new friends. Partnering with ShareCare Faith in Action, transportation was provided to and from the restaurant for each of the attendees.

The ladies dined on delicious Greek food as they got to know each other. What quickly became apparent in the conversation was just how much they had in common. They bonded over where they grew up, jobs they held, and similar experiences raising families in the Lehigh Valley. The thread they all shared was their positive memories of the strong tight-knit Jewish community we all know and love.

Carol Wilson and Chelsea Karp of Jewish Family Service originally conceptualized this series as an international lunch club that would introduce women across the Valley to new foods and new friends. Conversation has already begun amongst the members regarding other opportunities they’d like to take advantage of, like museums and movies.

Next up? Lunch in September at a local Chinese restaurant.
