Jewish Family Service celebrates Rosh Hashanah with older adults

September was a busy month for JFS volunteers as Rosh Hashanah programs were held at five different older adult residences: Atria, Traditions of Hanover/Sterling Heights, Kirkland Village, B'nai B'rith and Moravian Hall Square. Thank you to Rabbi Melody Davis, Rabbi Michael Singer and Cooky Notis who facilitated the programs. Also, a special thank you to the Szakalay family and the Jewish Day School for all their help with our High Holiday goody bags. The bags, delivered to 70 older adults, were filled with honey cake, honey sticks and holiday decorations (miniature honey pots, apples and shofars crafted out of skulpey and mounted on individual wood rounds) handmade by Lena, Pearl and Rivka Szakalay.
