Jewish Family Service brought the light of Chanukah to Kirkland Village on Dec. 16.

Residents, both Jewish and non-Jewish, gathered to hear the story of Chanukah and light the candles together. Some even shared memories of their own Chanukah traditions. 

Gladys Yass remembered eating doughnuts infused with jelly faster than they could even be filled.

“We also had a tradition where every person had their own menorah,” Gladys said.

The residents then lit the candles together and said the Chanukah prayers before enjoying their own sweet treats.

The residents also received cards made by the students at the Jewish Day School.
