Older Adults and Volunteers Enjoy a Ladies Day Out

Nothing brings women together quite like shopping.

On Aug. 29, Jewish Family Service brought together older adults and excited volunteers for another fun morning of Shopping & Sharing.

The shoppers and volunteers introduced themselves before venturing off to different departments. Shoes, clothes and housewares were all on the list, and Boscov’s had them all.

In the shoe department, volunteer Naomi was bringing her flair to client Bernice as she looked for the most colorful shoes on the shelves, bending down to help Bernice try them on. As they shopped, they talked about their mutual love of theater, and Bernice even broke into song.

The occasion took on even more meaning for Bernice, who was celebrating her 94th birthday that day.

“It’s great to get out,” Bernice said.

After shopping, some of the group gathered at Ruby Tuesday for a birthday lunch.
