Henriette Engelson, z"l

Henriette Engelson was involved with volunteerism for many years, with many Jewish organizations. At her synagogue, Temple Beth El, she served on both the main and Sisterhood board. She  volunteered to be a greeter at services, make phone calls and help in the kitchen. Additionally, she served as the president of Friendship Circle for three terms, served on the JCC board, assisted JFS in teaching English to Russian immigrants and helped with the JCC’s Nearly New. Her other volunteering experience included time spent at Lehigh Valley hospital and local nursing homes, as well as serving on the board of Hadassah Allentown, a housing board for the handicapped, and a board for autistic children. “It’s wonderful being honored,” Engelson said upon receiving the news. “That was part of my life. Whatever I could do to volunteer and help others.”
